Joint Training
April 26, 2019On April 24th and 25th The Bennington County Sheriff's Department had 5 Deputies and 2 Bennington Police Officers attend a joint Basic Patrol Rifle training school. Teaching the class were Game Warden Sergeant Travis Buttle and Bennington Police Sergeant Jason Burnham. After the classroom instruction there were many hours on a rifle range where the officers and deputies learned how to train and work together. They learned how to clear a rifle malfunction/jam, shoot from different distances, shooting in teams, transition from rifle to pistol, as well as shooting in low light settings using flashlights. Shooting was from standing, kneeling and prone positions. All the officers and deputies qualified with the patrol rifle.
